Development of a new tech industrial park in Macao
The MSARG Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng said earlier that the Concordia Industrial Park in Seac Pai Van will be reconverted into a tech industrial park similar to the Cyberport in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Cyberport business park comprises four office buildings, a hotel, and a retail entertainment complex, accommodating more than 1,600 digital and technology companies, including established enterprises such as Microsoft, Lenovo, and Zhong An.
The CE also revealed that the city's urban development master plan will be approved by the end of this year. The urban master plan proposal indicates that industrial zones currently dispersed in different areas of the MSAR would be gathered in newly identified industrial areas in the city, namely, the Cross-border Park in Ilha Verde, the Pac On Industrial Park, the Concordia Industrial Park and at Ká Hó Industrial Park. The Concordia Industrial Park, one of the major industrial areas in the territory, has approximately 11 land plots occupying 120,000 square meters in Coloane.
The land plots at the park were initially handled by the local administration for developing pharmaceutical, textile, cigarette and recycled plastics factories as well as a vehicle inspection center.
The MSAR Government plans to develop ‘cutting-edge industries’ in the area, including traditional Chinese medicine and data center. Recently, it was reported that the state-owned Nam Yue Group will take over a land plot in the park for developing the Nam Yue Science and Technology Park, while GDS Holdings Ltd, a China-based holding company mainly engaged in the development of data centers, has also entered into an agreement to form a joint venture with a local partner for establishing a data center in the area.
