Secretary for Development Michael Wong visited Central & Western District recently to inspect the Central Police Station Compound revitalisation project.
     The redevelopment is one of eight innovative projects in the Development Bureau's Conserving Central initiative.
     The compound contains 16 historic buildings, including Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison.
     It also includes the Married Inspectors' Quarters which partially collapsed last year. Mr Wong was briefed on the building's condition and its recovery plan.
     He also toured two nearly-completed buildings on the site, which will be used as art galleries and a multipurpose auditorium.
     In partnership with the Jockey Club, the Government will conserve and revitalise the compound into a space for cultural activities, integrating heritage, contemporary art and leisure facilities for the public.
