Macao advances over MOP 2 billion in major sports infrastructure projects
The Macao Public Works Bureau is currently driving forward at least three large-scale sports-related construction projects across Macau, with a combined investment exceeding MOP 2 billion.
Redevelopment of Former Greyhound Racetrack The former racetrack site is being transformed into a 40,425 sq m sports park, featuring four activity zones and a circular running track. To date, approximately MOP 1.37 billion has been invested in this redevelopment.
Athlete Training and Coaching Facilities On a 10,388 sq m plot, two purpose-built buildings are under construction to serve athletes and coaches. The project carries an investment of around MOP 372 million.
Integrated Sports Complex near the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge On reclaimed land in Zone A near the bridge, a multi-storey sports and recreation complex is being developed on a 1,930 sq m footprint. Once completed, the facility will house a swimming pool, six badminton courts, two basketball courts, and a table tennis hall. Current investment has already surpassed MOP 260 million.

Expansion of Taipa Olympic Sports Centre
In addition, the Taipa Olympic Sports Centre will soon be enhanced with a new multi-functional facility. Authorities plan to repurpose the existing car park to accommodate emerging and popular sports. This initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to promote community-wide participation in sports. (Reported by Building.hk)
