Building and Construction eBook Series Vol. 3
Public Facilities in Hong Kong
Part 1 According to the Hong Kong Government1s budget, from 2006 to 2011 an average
of HK$29 billion (US$3.71 billion) each year will be spent on infrastructure
projects. The Government is speeding up delivery of the planned public
projects and other minor works projects, and major projects under planning,
such as the North Lantau Highway Connection to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao
Bridge and the Central Government Complex and LegCo Building at Tamar. Plans
for other large-scale projects, including Kai Tak Development and the
Central Wan Chai Bypass will be also given top priority.
Being the works agent for the Hong Kong Government facilities
development, the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) is responsible
for maintaining the overall standard of in-house and outsourced projects
both in terms of design and construction through an effective quality
assurance and performance management system.
In these two editions of Public Facilities in Hong Kong (Vol.3 &
Vol.4), China Trend Building Press reports on 45 outstanding projects
undertaken by ArchSD in recent years. With more than 1,000 high resolution
images, plans and drawings, the two editions cover every aspect of the
planning, design and construction of these high quality projects.
