Central Yards: landmark harbourfront redevelopment

Henderson Land Development has launched Central Yards, a transformative mixed‑use project on Hong Kong’s New Central Harbourfront. With a gross floor area exceeding 1.6 million square feet, the development is positioned as a global benchmark for sustainable urban design and placemaking.

Design and Office Hub
At the core of the scheme is “The Bridge”, a 400‑metre groundscraper that establishes a new horizontal skyline along Victoria Harbour. The project is the product of collaboration with leading international design studios, creating a unifying spine that connects Central’s diverse districts to the waterfront.
Central Yards will deliver more than 700,000 square feet of premium office and ancillary space, including the largest floorplate in Hong Kong’s CBD. The design targets headquarters and innovation‑driven financial organisations, with strong pre‑leasing demand already positioning the site as a new financial hub.

Green and Public Realm
The development integrates extensive biophilic design, highlighted by Central’s largest sky garden—an elevated 160,000‑square‑foot landscape rich in biodiversity. Over 300,000 square feet of multi‑level open green space, planted with more than 400 trees and 280 species, enhances microclimate performance and provides venues for public gathering, events, and leisure.

Retail and Cultural Anchors
Phase one introduces 300,000 square feet of retail in a street‑first, promenade‑led environment. Maison concepts, duplex layouts, and open terraces redefine brand engagement while blending indoor and outdoor experiences. Twelve outdoor event spaces, cultural markets, and al‑fresco dining will activate the harbourfront as a round‑the‑clock destination.
Adding a cultural dimension, Central Yards will house Hong Kong’s only private Broadway‑calibre theatre. With seating for over 1,100 and international‑standard facilities, the venue is designed to host global premieres, concerts, and cross‑disciplinary productions, establishing a new cultural gateway for the city.
