Seminar on Macau new town development: Explore the huge potential of the Macau building and construction market

With the imminent completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, business activities, especially in the building and construction sector will take off with a new perspective to pave the way for long term cooperation between Hong Kong and Macau.

Riding on this opportunity, HKTDC and Building Journal jointly organise a professional seminar on October 27 at the Hong Kong Internatioanl Building & Hardware Fair (concurrent events: Eco Expo Asia and Hong Kong International Outdoor & Tech Light Expo) to bring major stake holders in the region together, including building and construction professionals, developers and representatives from related institutes and associations in Macau and counter-parts in Hong Kong to explore the enormous potential of opportunities and collaborations in the Hong Kong-Macau region.

Macau Reclamation Area A to provide 32,000 residential units

Site formation work of Macau Reclamation Area A is approaching its completion as scheduled within 2016. It is expected that the first batch of housing projects could be available, the soonest, in 2020.

Reclamation Area A is the largest plot among the five planned reclamation sites. The new land will provide much needed space for the growth of the city in the coming decades. Area A has an area of 137 acres and according to the Macau SAR Government's latest proposal, a total of 32,000 residential units could be provided.

It is also suggested that the government may look into the potential of utilizing underground space in a large scale to accommodate commercial and public facilities, which is already proven a success in some Asian cities.
